Fillings

With regular check-ups with us here every six months, we will hopefully diagnose the need for a filling without you experiencing any pain or sensitivity. However, if you are experiencing increased sensitivity or pain when chewing or biting down, this could be a sign that you’re in need of a filling.

At Vogue Dental, we only place white fillings. This is because we believe they offer the patient the most aesthetically pleasing finish, as well as restoring and further protecting the tooth in question. White fillings are made of a highly durable composite resin which can be colour-matched to the tooth, and is able to be moulded to the tooth, creating a highly natural-looking finish.

Once we’ve established that a filling is the correct route forward for you, you’ll return to the practice to have it placed. This can usually be done in just one appointment, and we’ll first administer a local anaesthetic that will leave you comfortable and at ease throughout. We’ll then remove any decay or damaged parts of the tooth and thoroughly clean and disinfect the area.

A special gel is then applied to the tooth – this is to make sure the filling material adheres correctly to the tooth – and the tooth filling is applied. We’ll then expertly shape and mould the material so that it fits in seamlessly with the rest of the mouth before setting it with a special curing light. You’ll then be able to leave the practice with a fully restored, healthy tooth.
