At Vogue Dental in Chislehurst, Bromley Kent, we can repair a broken smile and restore a missing tooth – or teeth – with a dental bridge.
Simply put, a dental bridge is a fixed dental restoration designed to quite literally ‘bridge’ a gap in a smile. It uses a custom-made prosthetic tooth – or teeth – that is attached to the surrounding healthy teeth. This treatment can be used to restore a missing tooth or teeth, or to replace a tooth or teeth that are in need of extraction due to damage or decay. From our Chislehurst clinic, Vogue Dental offers both adhesive bridges and conventional bridges.

Questions you may have about this treatment
This treatment is designed to replace a missing tooth, or multiple missing teeth. As a preventive-care based practice in Chislehurst, at Vogue Dental we always recommend replacing missing teeth wherever possible. This is because missing teeth can go on to cause a wide range of other oral health issues that can threaten your overall oral wellbeing and affect your day-to-day life.
Vogue Dental in Chislehurst, Kent, offers several types of dental bridges, including conventional bridges and adhesive bridges.
Conventional bridges are the most commonly used type of bridge at Vogue Dental. They use a crown on either side of the bridge to anchor the new prosthetic tooth to the surrounding healthy teeth. This is an incredibly strong and durable fixed dental restoration and can last up to ten years with good oral care. Conventional bridges are a more invasive option compared to adhesive bridges, as the surrounding ‘anchor’ teeth have to be reduced in size in order to receive the crowns.
At Vogue Dental in Chislehurst, adhesive bridges are attached to a neighbouring healthy tooth via a metal wing. The metal wing, which is attached to the prosthetic tooth, is then cemented into place across the back on a neighbouring healthy tooth. Adhesive bridges are a less invasive form of fixed dental restoration than conventional bridges, as they don’t require removal of the natural surrounding healthy teeth, but they can de-bond and come loose more easily than conventional bridges.
We’ll carry out a full assessment during your consultation with us for this treatment at Vogue Dental in Chislehurst, Kent. We’ll take your oral health history into account and perform X-rays so we can determine the health of the surrounding teeth.
Once your Vogue Dental dentist has determined that this is the right treatment for you, you’ll return to our Kent-based practice in Chislehurst to have your fixed dental restoration placed. This usually happens over two appointments. We’ll first place you under local anaesthetic to ensure you don’t feel a thing in the area being treated and that you’re comfortable throughout. We’ll then prepare the teeth on either side of where the bridges will be placed, and take an impression or digital scan. This will be sent off to our dental laboratory partners who will make your adhesive bridges or conventional bridges for you.
Once the bridge is ready, you’ll return to the practice to have it placed – during this time, we can provide you with a temporary bridge for your comfort. We’ll then make sure it fits comfortably and correctly in the mouth before securing and cementing it into place. You’ll then be able to leave the practice with a fully restored new smile.
Even if you are a patient at another dental practice, you can also register at Vogue Dental for any of our treatments. We have many patients who visit us from Bromley, Orpington, Sidcup, Foxbury, Avery Hill, Bexleyheath, Bexley, Beckenham, Elmstead, Swanley, Kent & the surrounding areas of London for all types of dental treatments.
