At Vogue Dental, we take care to treat the whole family and offer a wide range of treatments and advice when it comes to dental care for children.
The advice we offer most parents is to first bring their child into the practice when their baby teeth begin to erupt, or once they have turned one – whichever occurs first. Our team are highly experienced when it comes to treating young children, and we love being able to set them up for years of good oral health. This may sound young, but it’s important for us to be able to assess the state of their oral health from the beginning, as well as to get them used to the practice and visiting the dentist.

Questions you may have about this treatment
It’s important that regular toothbrushing begins as soon as your child’s first tooth erupts. This means brushing twice a day with a fluoride toothpaste – this is as much to prevent decay and disease as it is to establish a healthy routine that you can all stick to as a family.
We also recommend limiting sugar intake, especially at this early stage. It is not solely about reducing the overall intake of sugar, but about limiting the frequency of this intake too. This is because it is frequency of sugar consumed that can have the most damage to teeth.
In the early years, it is not necessary to bring them in for regular visits or check-ups, although you might like to bring them with you when you have check-ups with us here. This can help get them used to the practice, and help reduce the chances of dental phobia or anxiety from occurring.
From the age of five onwards, we would recommend bringing you children in for regular check-ups. This is when their permanent teeth will be starting to come through, and we’ll need to keep a close eye on their development. At this point, we may well also offer preventive treatments such as fissure sealants if we think them necessary.
From the age of nine upwards, we’ll be keeping an eye on the position of your child’s teeth, and assessing the potential need for orthodontic treatment. From this age, we’re able to monitor the growth of the jaw and will have a clearer idea of the position of the adult teeth. Of course, not every patient will need orthodontic treatment, but thanks to our diverse team of dentists and orthodontists, we’re able to provide a comprehensive range of treatment options right here in the practice.
Even if you are a patient at another dental practice, you can also register at Vogue Dental for any of our treatments. We have many patients who visit us from Bromley, Orpington, Sidcup, Foxbury, Avery Hill, Bexleyheath, Bexley, Beckenham, Elmstead, Swanley, Kent & the surrounding areas of London for all types of dental treatments.
