Crowns

Like most dental crowns in Kent, the caps we make at the Vogue Dental Chislehurst practice are often made of a precious metal such as gold, but can also be made of Zirconia and porcelain. Porcelain crowns have become much more popular as they offer patients a very natural looking finish and can be shade matched to their teeth. It’s also a highly durable material that can mimic the surface of the natural tooth.

At our Chislehurst clinic, there are some situations where an onlay, or perhaps veneers, might be suitable rather than a dental crown. Crowns require the removal of parts of the natural tooth in order to be applied, so at Vogue Dental we will always try to offer a less invasive alternative if suitable and possible for the patient. Rest assured, however, that we will talk through all your options with you at consultation and be sure to use the most appropriate solution available.

When receiving a dental cap from us at Vogue Dental, you’ll usually come into the Chislehurst practice for two appointments after your initial consultation. At your first appointment we’ll use local anaesthetic so you don’t feel thing, and can also offer oral or inhalation sedation if required. We’ll then prepare and reshape the tooth and take impressions or digital scans of the mouth. These will be sent off to our dental laboratory partners who will make your dental crowns for you in Kent.

Once the crowns are ready, you’ll come back to us here at Vogue Dental to have placed, making sure the fit and bite are correct before cementing the personal crown into place. We’ll also be able to offer a temporary crown for use while you wait for your personal crown to be made.
