CHEMICAL PEELS

Chemical peels come in three main types, each addressing different skin concerns and offering varying levels of exfoliation:

• Light Peels – These gentle peels use mild acids like alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs) or beta-hydroxy acids (BHAs) to exfoliate the surface layer of the skin. They help improve dullness, mild pigmentation, and fine lines with little to no downtime, making them ideal for regular maintenance.
• Medium Peels – Using stronger acids such as trichloroacetic acid (TCA), medium peels penetrate deeper to treat moderate wrinkles, sun damage, and acne scars. Expect a few days of peeling as the skin renews itself.
• Deep Peels – These intense treatments, often using phenol or high-strength TCA, reach the deeper layers of the skin to target severe sun damage, deep wrinkles, and pronounced pigmentation issues. They require longer recovery but deliver dramatic, long-lasting results.

Post-treatment, your skin may feel tight, red, and slightly sensitive, similar to a mild sunburn. Peeling typically starts within 48 hours and can last up to a week, depending on the peel’s strength. Medium and deep peels may cause flaking, temporary darkening of pigmentation, and mild swelling. It’s essential to avoid picking at peeling skin to prevent irritation or scarring.

Light peels offer a fresh, radiant glow immediately, with ongoing improvements over several treatments. Results last a few weeks and are best maintained with regular sessions.

Medium peels reveal smoother, more even skin after around 7-10 days, with results lasting several months.

Deep peels deliver dramatic rejuvenation, with results fully developing after a few weeks and lasting years with proper care.

At your pre-treatment consultation, our trained practitioners will carry out a thorough skin assessment, establishing the best peel for you based on your specific concerns and skin type. On the day of treatment, the skin is cleansed to remove oil and debris, ensuring even penetration of the peel solution. The chosen chemical solution is then applied in layers and left on for a set time, depending on the peel’s strength. For some peels, a neutralising solution is applied, while others self-neutralise. After the solution has been removed, a soothing serum and SPF are applied to protect the skin.

After treatment, the following aftercare is typically recommended:

• Keep Skin Hydrated – Use a gentle, fragrance-free moisturiser to soothe dryness and flaking.
• Avoid Sun Exposure – Your skin is more sensitive after a peel, so wear broad-spectrum SPF 30+ daily.
• Skip Harsh Skincare – Avoid exfoliants, retinoids, and active ingredients (like vitamin C or glycolic acid) until your skin has fully healed.
• Let Peeling Happen Naturally – Do not pick or peel flaking skin to prevent irritation and scarring.
• Stay Hydrated & Maintain Treatments – Drinking plenty of water and following a skincare routine tailored to your needs will extend your results.
