You will still have verbal contact, however, your protective reflexes will be subdued enabling you to receive treatment.

Will I Feel Pain During Treatment?
Along with sedation, you’ll be given a local anaesthetic if your procedure requires it, meaning you won’t feel any pain during treatment. Although you are awake throughout, many patients don’t remember their procedure afterwards.
When Will the Effects Wear Off?
The effects will wear off after your treatment and not before. If you choose oral or IV sedation, you will need someone with you to take you home after your procedure as you may still feel drowsy. Inhalation sedation wears off much quicker, so you will be able to continue with your daily activities soon after treatment.
